After the recall at Bartor Road Maple Leaf Foods had major sales drop, people had stop buying products from the company because they were afraid of getting the illness that took five people’s lives and had gotten many sick. This recall had a $20 million effect on the company, but when the financial chief of Maple Leafs spoke about the amount drop he said the company will be spending more money on customer communications and advertising. According to the 2009 Marketing/Large Corporate Reputation Survey the reputation of this company dropped from 66 out of 100 to 8 out of 100 in a very short period of time. A few months later the reputation of the company had raised again to 40 out of 100, 65% of Canadians had a positive opinion.
